About Brittany

My passion is to journey alongside people as they walk through some of life's most difficult situations. I am committed to helping people find peace and freedom from their past hardships, present conditions, and internal struggles.

My specialities include Trauma, Spiritual Development/Growth work, Personal Development, Mood Regulation (Depression and Anxiety), and Relationship Dynamics. In addition to the intensive training I received while earning my Master's Degree, I have taken several training classes to learn about specific therapies including; EMDR, DBT, and ISF.

For more information on what type of therapy would be a good match for you check out the Services page or Contact Me page.

I have my Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling from Denver Seminary. My Bachelor's Degree is in Sign Language Interpretation from Regis University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and an Authorized Educational Interpreter (EIPA). I did my EMDR training through Maiberger Institute and have a certificate of of training allowing me to practice EMDR. My DBT training has consisted of a full-year of group training under a DBT certified therapist, and trainings offered by Dr. Lane Petersen giving me certificates that show my training in DBT.

In college, I studied Sign Language as that was a strong interest of mine. After graduating with my BS in ASL Interpretation, I worked for 9 years in the interpreting field. I worked in schools across the Denver area, including; Metro University, Community College of Denver, Red Rocks, Denver University, and University of Colorado.

After 9 years of working as an interpreter I came to realize my true passion; to journey along-side people as they work through internal struggles. I was no longer satisfied with being a bystander in people's lives, I wanted to work with people in a deep and meaningful way. I decided to get my Masters Degree in Counseling so I could serve my community in the way I most desired. I now work full-time as a counselor serving both the deaf and hearing community in the field of psychology.

Other accomplishments include publishing. I have been published for my research focusing on the MBTI and American Missionaries. For more information on this research check out the Announcements page.

About Maddie

Brittany Edwards Counseling has had the honor of adding Maddie Thrasher to our team. She specializes in working with adolescent girls, those with chronic pain or illness, and adults in any stage. Her therapy modalities include DBT, Narrative, and Rogerian.

From Maddie: Sometimes it can be hard to see things from a different perspective or work ourselves out of a bad spot. We ALL need a little bit of help when things in life become too much to handle on our own. I believe every human is capable of pursuing and accomplishing many things in life with the right tools. By utilizing modalities such as Narrative Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, I help my clients to understand and use emotional regulation, strengthen interpersonal skills and increase positive communication within themselves and with others.

I am passionate about working with adults at all stages of life, adolescents girls, and those with medical trauma or chronic illness/pain. It would be an honor to help guide you on this journey.

I hold a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health from Colorado Christian University. My bachelors degree from Colorado State University is in Journalism and Technical Communication, with an emphasis on Public Relations. I am an LPCC and NCC candidate. I worked in corporate world for about ten years before realizing that I did not want to sit behind a desk for the rest of my professional career. I was and still am passionate about helping others and giving back to the world in a meaningful way. For me, counseling is the ideal way to do that.

She has been practicing therapy for several years working as a behavioral therapist at Children’s Hospital focusing on adolescents and mood stabilization.

From Abbey: I believe in the power of validation through feeling heard and seen, and the invaluable healing power of the therapeutic relationship. Whatever life brings, sometimes all we need is to be heard and for someone to come alongside us in our drive towards healing and growth. I am passionate about facilitating a collaborative environment, built on trust and empathic understanding, where you are the expert in your own journey. Through the utilization of person-centered, existential, and cognitive-behavioral frameworks, I hope to assist my clients in feeling understood while instilling hope through meaningful change that is client-driven.
